This is an excellent book for anyone who likes living a life. Written in simple English, this book brings the reader around the world in different short chapters. I finished reading the book in just one sitting, and I should say, I will re-read it all the time. The author also includes many short quotes by famous and wise old people like Confucius which we can adapt to our modern living. In a nutshell, most of us are not lucky to live a wealthy life. So not to say lots of travels and staying at expensive resorts and dining at the most exclusive restaurants. This isn't the aim of the author (he's managing the best hotels in the world). In this book, you'll be inspired to observe your surroundings and enjoy them with a keen eye. It'll give you a fresh breath after a day of hard boring work in the urban city!

A very insightful and thought provoking book on life and one's outlook. Peter's descriptions of the places he has visited are enjoyable and interesting - makes you anticipate where he will be taking you to next. A great read when travelling, maybe having dinner alone on a business trip, or just laying back on a beach. You will enjoy Peter's insight here on a number of thought provoking topics. Dr. Robert W. Little book with deep thoughts

Everything New is Free: Thoughts of a Globetrotting Hotelier is a collection of great essays with keen observations, sense of humor, and deep philosophical thoughts. The author clearly spent time living in different parts of the world and captured the essence that transcends different culture. While the book is written in Shanghai, by all means, the most dynamic city in the world in 2006 (Liuli museum, luxury goods in China, etc.), the book has a philosophical quality as the author paints little vignettes about Greece, Kyoto, the MiddleEast as part of his own life. This book is not an intro to Europe for armchair travellers. But it is very thought-provoking, which is appreciated by many of us who travel and live globally.
