Housekeeping for the Mind

I can't say enough about how this book can take your thought life and force you to go deeper, examine the roots and heart of your beliefs and who you are! With Jerusha's guidance, you are able to face the lies that penetrate the mind, replace them with truths and pursue the freedom that Christ wants us to have in Him! The chapters are well laid out: first examining the lies/truths, then giving practical steps to help live them out and finally uses challenging questions for reflection and personal evaluation. I would recommend this for women of all ages and stages of life.

Im impressed

I read so many books where people beat around the bush and don't get to the point of what they are trying to say b/c's they are so inimidated to say it. This book was brilliant. The person who wrote the book was a very smart intelligent person. There are so many things that bring us down every single day. And the things we believe about ourselves and others are crippling to our lives sometimes. It really opened my eyes when Jerusha was talking about the lust issues that women face. I am a young married woman and its good to know you aren't alone in the things that you feel and thats its normal. However now I can really nail on the head what I am feeling and realize that I can come against it in the name of Jesus! My husband is not a strong Christian but this book shows me that if I can be an example even in the small things like looking at a nice looking man and wondering.... then I can learn to stop whereever that is going to take me next. I just turned 23 and was married at 20 so I can't really pinpoint how Im feeling sometimes. It is good hearing this truth and thank you for trusting God and writing this book, and also for your wise insight.

Peace of Mind

The moment I began this book I began to think of people who might benefit, but then I stopped as I realized that I needed it. It's thoughtful, insightful, and challenges each of us to allow our thought life to be transformed. I love the fact that Jerusha is honest and doesn't pretend to have all the answers, and yet gently shows us the promise of change.

thoroughly honest

Every Thought Captive is an excellent read, with very challenging insights and pertinent questions to consider about one's thought life. Each chapter deals with a different topic, from depression to envy, lust and worry, and compares lies we tell ourselves to the truths in scripture. The author writes in a friendly, jargon-free, completely honest way--more honest than I would feel comfortable being in a nationally-published book--but that openness encourages the reader to be equally vigilant in uncovering their own deep recesses of inner conversations. Then the reader may effectively confront the lies with the gracious truth of God's love and mercy.
