Magic-sensitive Maeve wants to save the innocent from a dangerous cult. But how much can she delve into darkness without becoming what she fears? The exciting conclusion to the Gifts series. Big things are happening for Maeve and her tight-knit coven in Kilbeg, Ireland. Fiona lands a role on a TV show, Roe's band is poised to hit it big-time, and Lily has a new punk style and passion for tattooing. Then there's Maeve, whose magic is growing stronger and more frightening. She finds herself increasingly lashing out, doing and saying cruel things without knowing why. When her recurring dreams begin to involve her physically manifesting in other places, Maeve realizes the power she wields might not be entirely under her control. She turns to enemy-turned-maybe-friend Aaron for help, which means pushing her other friends away. But when the two learn that the religious cult the Children of Brigid is kidnapping vulnerable teenagers in preparation for a dangerous ritual, Maeve must risk letting an older magic consume her. She'll need all the protection--and love--she can get from her scattered coven.
If you want to teach young girls about accountability, this book isn't it.

Although I found the charecters endearing, and I enjoyed being in the heads of teenagers and reading struggles from them is a refresher from ny adult life, I found the charecters take no accountability for their actions. There is no growth in these charecters. There are no apologies offered whenever anyone of them offend the other. I feel sorry for Roe, it seemed like he had a good moral compass but Maeve brings him down. Fiona is one of the good ones too, she just needs to learn to respect her family's traditions more. Of course the whole "evil White Christians run a cult and manipulate the local kids of the town" trope is in this book too. But I did like the dialog on how faiths can be interlinked.
Aaron being bossed around by these women was lazy writing. If you're going to write a power fantasy novel, atleast present an agrument that doesn't prove the point of the people who believe in the opposite of you. I could tell the author wanted to do more with Aaron but couldn't due to her own convictions.
Its astonishing, really. Insight into the mind of a modern woman.
However, I enjoyed the book. A quick nice read if you want to know how the young generation is writing literature.
