It had been the summer she'd turned sixteen that Duke Hutchison had roard into Caroline Adam's Life on his motorcycle and stolen her heart forever. With his leather jacket and tight jeans, Duke had a reputation, but gentleness and passion were all she had ever seen in his dark eyes. Fate and family had cruelly separated them, but now, thirteen years later, Duke was back in town, the bad boy made good, and Carolin's memories were hauntingly sharp... When Duke saw Caroline again, he know he'd never stopped loving her-- and this time, he swore he wouldn't lose her. But would that be enought to overcome the past and creat a future that was even better than before? This is a good book. I have read it a couple of times. High School lovers torn apart by strict Grandparents. They never got over each other. One thing I found hard to identify with is the stigma of being illegitemate. This book was published in 1991, so this would mean the characters were raised in the 60's & 70's when that was a big deal. I was born in the 70's myself, and I have read books with this theme. I think it is sad that society has made children born out of wedlock the criminal, when they are actually the victim. Ok I'm off of my soap box. Younger readers might not really get this because having parents that were never married is no big deal now.
