This is a history of Europe since Napoleon, covering all of the main topics of that period. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I read this book during my matriculation years, and it was a textbook for students studying modern history in Chinese University of Hong Kong during 1980s. (I don't sure any change these years in C.U.) David Thomson used some concepts, like social cement, to illustrate the European societies after French Revolution. I think part 3 "The Age of Revolutions" & part 4 "The Emergence of New Powers" was the best written parts in the book. However, as this book has many arguments rather than facts. For middle school students, it's better to read some other history books to get a basic understanding of modern history of Europe. Plus, Seaman's "From Vienna to Versailles" is another reference book for this period at my matriculation times.
