Thoughtful, Thorough, Theoretical and Practical

I have used this book to teach from for two semesters in an introductory level university course with excellent results. This edition, with an expanded bibliography, is of even greater value than the hardcover. Dr. Wolff is thorough, analytical yet practical and humane in his discussion of ethnic conflicts. He enriches the study of and understanding of ethnic conflict greatly with this volume, which would be a superb addition to a reading list for graduate courses in ethnic conflict and/or conflict resolution. His depth of knowledge and perception is evident on every page, and this is highly readable because of this. Students at all levels of knowledge respond to it very positively. I strongly recommend this book and all others by Stefan Wolff; they are worthy additions to all libraries, both personal and institutional.
