This book had more realistic issues than the second book I read by Schulte in this series. Louisa is subjected to an unwanted marriage because her husband is emotionally and physically abusive. To escape him she lies about her true name and seeks to go to California where he can never find her again. Along the way she meets a handsome man who offers to escort her under the pretenses that he is going to California for seperate reasons other than her. Of course there is a love story but the story does progress rather well and is very sweet. I enjoyed it very much and will read it again!
This book is on ones struggle to find real love.
