Good for beginners but you will need another book also

I really liked this book. It contains 2 projects and it guides you through all the steps you need to complete them. But the book doesn't really provide any explanation of what you are doing or why you are doing it, so I would recommend that you have another Flash book on hand that you can use as a reference. Despite this I think this book is a great way to learn Flash for those who have no previous experience with it. It is an easy introduction. You don't have to read through pages of information and explanations, which is the case with other web books, to get a good basic knowledge of the application.

Great Book - Assumes Nothing

Having no previous experience with Flash, I am amazed at what I am able to pull off now. This book assumed nothing and walked me through step by step. The use of practical excercises with a clear set path really aided in the learning experience.Great Book!

Works for me!

I needed to get up to speed in a hurry and this book did it for me even though I had never used any macromedia product before. It does require good general background in layer based software like Photoshop.

Sheesh, Did you even read the book description?

It appears that Chris didn't read what this book was about before buying it. No where on the cover does it say it is a reference. If he had visited this page and read the reviews he would have quickly realized this was not intended to be a book for advanced users either. It is for a web person who hasn't learned Flash yet and wants/needs to get up to speed quickly. You shouldn't trash books without understanding the purpose of them. I personally thought this book was great!

This is the book I needed!

I don't know what it was about Flash, but I needed a new mindset to get me "jump-started". This book did that for me. I'm up and running and loving Flash 4 . If you're NOT comfortable working with timelines, but want to learn Flash for use on the web...this is the book. It worked for me.
