Bigger would be better but lovely even if little!

Erotique is a beautiful book and gives a nice series of glimpses of the evolution of erotic photography over the years. I wish I could give it 5 stars but that rating is only for something that stirs me deep. The problem is no quality photographer takes a little 110 camera to try to shoot quality pictures. To create quality images a good photographer will be probably be shooting in medium format or bigger film or, nowadays, maybe with medium format huge `gazillionpixel tools. Quality like is represented in these images deserves size, size and more size. Many of the images in this book are very good, some approaching classic (don't you reckon the cover is just gorgeous!?), the sort of images that just hold your gaze and remind you of the magic of the female form. But in the size book you'd expect if you were reading someone's biography of a novel it's like driving a Maseratti with flat tyres and dirty fuel. This is a book of truly beautiful images but I ache to see them in a substantial, seriously coffee table sized book where the images are really honoured and the viewer can be mesmerized and enthralled rather than feeling like they can just smell the exquisite meal but not taste it. However it is a lovely collection of beautiful images and anything that adds beauty to people's lives can't be a bad thing even if there are those of us who want it all in a size where we can roll on the pages rather than just look at them in a format that's tiny compared to where they would be at their glorious best.
