A poem of remembrance...

Though not a gay man, I lived through the worst days of dying in Chicago, IL in the late 80s/early 90s, holding more than 90 men's hands as they wasted away. Billy Howard has captured in images and the personal notes of each of the victims the very essence of those dark days. It's an elegiac work of great dignity and beauty - one I wish was required for every GLBT Ally program and course in the US. As a former photographer for AP and Gannett newspapers and creative photographer with works that have toured the world, I can attest to the simple beauty of Billy's images. What I cannot do, is give enough praise to this masterful work. Buy it. Savor it. Tell others about it...

Overall an emotional drive of discovering the world of AIDS.

The collection of words truly was an inspiration of life. After I finished reading the book, I had a new profound feeling about life. I feel that everyone should read this book once, because many of people in our materialistic society, including myself, take life for granted. But for me, that is a thing of the past. HAPPY READING!!!
