This is part of a series. The others in the series include Epic Battles of the Civil War (Historical Comics Marvel, Volume 1: First Bull run) ,Epic Batles of the Civil War (THE BATTLES OF THE CIVIL WAR, 3), and Epic Battles of the Civil War, Volume 2: Shiloh (Historical comics)I picked up all four, hoping to spark some Civil War interest in my son. They did, too, although I really can't entirely give these particular books all the credit. The books, though, in combination with other information, visits to specific sites, and conversation are really what did it. This volume includes the Battle of Gettysburg and begins with Lee's plan to invade the North. It ends with Pickett's Charge. In it, we meet Lee, Meade, Longstreet, Stuart, Hill, Hancock, Slocum, and more. The battle scenes are quite realistic for drawings, and the narrative is very clear. These really aren't for everyone, but they are very interesting for those who already have an interest in either graphic novels/comics or the Civil War. I am not a comic aficionado by any means, but I think all the books are drawn and laid out well. They are written by George Woodbridge and Will Shetterly, Penciled by George Woodbridge, Inked by John Tartaglione and George Woodbridge, and colored by Marie Severin. All the comics include a prologue, epilogue, and short biographies of the major players involved.
