Piero Scanziani journeys the world in search of authentic mystics and the keys to theit understanding in this autobiographical work. A self-professed Christian with no plans to convert to any other religion, Scanziani does not shy from exploring other avenues to self understanding. Scanziani's journey begins in the temples of India, where he commences the process of meeting with and trying to distill the essence of beliefs held by various mystics. Then on to America to experience the Native Peyote religion, mystery in Europe, Persia to witness the Sufi Dervishes and queri a Sufi master. A simple Taoist master in China, Buddhists in Bangcok, and to Tokyo, Japan to meet in person the great Aikido Master, Ueshiba Morihei (which he does!). Back to India for more...and an interesting culmination of his journey on Mount Athos in Greece. Unpretentious, honest, and holds the attention. One segment flows well into the next. Scantziani doesn't make the mistake of trying to make each individual appear perfect, they are presented in their human light, as he found them. Oh, and in answer to the question 'what the heck is an Entronaut', Scanziani coined the term for mystical searchers: "Entronauts, full of mystery. Entronauts do not look towards the outside, they look in, and study how we are made..." (page 27)
A delight...

Utterly perfect. A man's search for faith amongst a jungle of faiths, paths and people. Owing a lot to Gurdjieff's "Meetings with Remarkable Men", but altogether more accessible. A timeless reminder of the need for eternal vigilance, questioning and accceptance of no authority external to oneself for those on a lifelong search for truth. A true classic.
