She earned a university degree in home economics from Ohio State and later became one the first Master Gardeners at the University of Illinois Extension. While serving as the president of the largest Homemakers Extension Association in the U.S., Enid was asked by her newspaper in Libertyville, Illinois to contribute a weekly column.
