Energy, Peace, Purpose is an enlightening book for anyone who is willing to take the steps necessary to change their everyday behavior to give then a sense of purpose in their life. As the author suggests repeatedly the person reading the book should develop a support group or a few good friends that will hold the person accountable for the changes that are suggested in this book. Energy, Peace, Purpose looks at the whole person rather than only dealing with one part of the person. Goodrick believes that change must take place holistically. This suggests changes in everything from what you put into your body to what kind of mattress and sleeping environment you should create in your bedroom. Goodrick also deals with the fact that people should exercise daily which will help tremendously. Energy, Peace, Purpose is easy to follow and a very simple read. Anyone with at least a high school education should be able to pick this book up and follow it with ease. I would still recommend that a person have some sort of support for reading this book because of the many exercises that if done alone might be easy to skip over or done haphazardly. If a person has someone else whom they must report to then they will be more likely to do all that is recommended in the book. The suggestions in Energy, Peace, Purpose are backed up by many research studies done by Goodrick and other researchers. Therefore one can be re-assured that the suggestions have worked for many people. My suggestion is to take the book slowly and take the time to do the homework assignments faithfully. The last part of Energy, Peace, Purpose which deals with bringing purpose to your life is very effective. It wraps up why you should do the homework assignments and how you can add meaning to your daily life whether you work in an office or at home raising the children. It also brings purpose in your family life as well. Just a note: If you have a physical disability please check with your doctor before following any of the walking exercises. You and your doctor may have to come up with some alternative way to exercise.Also if you suffer from any other medical condition please follow your dietitian's recommendations. They are more apt to know how your diet will effect you health. Goodrick says that he by no means is an expert when it comes to special diets. His recommendations come as what is expected all healthy individuals should eat to remain healthy.
