I couldn't put it down, holy cow

I have to say WOW, WOW, holy cow, aye carumba, this book grabbed me from the begining by my shirt collar and wouldn't let me go, infact I couldn't wouldn't let it go. I read it in about 24 hours. Not only did it grab me from the first page it just kept getting better and I didn't want to put it down, not even to attend the event I flew to Ga to attend. I felt like I was leaving one of my little ones at the hotel by themselves, I felt guiltly leaving Jax and Marcus behind and kept thinking about them, biting at the bit to return to them. As soon as I got back, and did I say I couldn't wait to get back, I started reading again and had to force myself to put it down so I could get to bed for my 3:30 am wake up call. I absolutely fell in love with Marcus along with Jax and Jax - what a woman, what intestinal fortitude. Marcus was, well, he is deep and has managed to retain his honor and I believe his humanity and well I'd love to go bump in the night with him. I found all the characters to be believable as well as the plot turns and twists and I can once again say that I was right there with them in the book watching it in living color. Infact It was so good I'm going to start it over again so I can just savor it,roll around and imerse myself in it. I canna wait for the next one in this series, lord I wish Karin ( MS. Harlow ) could write about 50,000 words per minute. I'd love to see this made into a movie. This is definately a must read.

Amazing read from beginning to end

Enemy Lover by Karin Harlow is an excellent debut novel. The paranormal elements added to the frantic pace of a crime thriller added up to a roller coaster ride adventure. From the first moment they appeared on the page, Jax and Marcus are a couple to root for. Jax aka Angela has a horrible past to move on from and Marcus is just the hero to help her through.

Raw and primal!

Enemy Lover grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go until the last page. Part of it is due to the dark and gritty characters. Part due to the high concept and fast-moving plot. Jax Cassidy, a former cop betrayed by her squad members and ex-fiance, is saved from a life in jail by the head of L.O.S.T. (Last Option Special Team). It's Jax's last option, and the L.O.S.T. team is after an enemy that has infiltrated the highest echelon of the U.S. government. Marcus Cross is the key, and Jax's orders are to seduce him, then eliminate him. But she finds out Marcus is more than a match for her. In fact, he's more than human. Marcus Cross was abandoned as a baby by his society mother. Years later, his platoon left him for dead in Afghanistan. Like Jax, he's given a second chance at life - as a vampire. His creator sends him on killing missions to further his cause, but Marcus finds a primal connection to Jax that's stronger than the ties to his creator. Stronger than anything he's felt before in his life. As I read this book, I kept thinking WOW! WOW! WOW! Harlow takes vamps to new levels, controlling members of the government and the military. And Jax and Marc are raw, with every nerve exposed. They've been defeated, betrayed and broken, then super-glued back together, coming out stronger and harder, the pieces that don't fit their new identities left behind. Enemy Lover is heart-pumping, lump-in-the-throat exciting and kept me whipping through the pages way into the morning hours.

Fantastic Twist with a hint of Fang

I have to say that after reading the last few disappointing Elite Ops books from Lora Leigh I was needing a little bit of a fix. Karin Harlow has delivered and reminded me of why I loved the GhostWalker and Elite Ops/Seal books to begin with. Jax Cassidy is a ghost, one who was raped, tortured and betrayed by her fellow cops. Luckily for her L.O.S.T took an interest in her and not only made her a ghost, but raised her from her ashes of self pity and honed a fighting machine. She now works seamlessly (as long as they don't touch her) with her fellow team members and is loving her new life and purpose. Only problem is that her latest target Marcus Cross is more then he appears... and she constantly gets hot just looking at him. Cross is an assassin and part of a vigil anti group called The Solution. It's headed up by a horridly power hungry man (or is he?) called Lazarus. Jax and her team's mission is to take out the head of the snake and crush The Solution before it causes any more trouble for the government. Fate it seems is not on her side, Marcus touches a part of her that she's never felt before, any he is dangerous and more than her match. Marcus is equally intrigue and their game of cat and mouse begin. I'm not going to go into any more details, but I have to say the plot line is tight. There is so much going on, but there aren't any loose ends. I also really enjoyed the paranormal element to this book. It differentiated Harlow as an author as well as opened up numerous story lines for future books. I also liked the added evil of Lazarus being what he is, no normal mortal could cause that much terror or damage. Jax was a fantastic heroine and the fight scenes were amazing. Unlike many authors who blur over the details and suddenly 'it was all over' Harlow teased out details and I felt like I was watching the violence and blood first hand. This is definitely a must read if you are craving a little more than Maverick and Black Jack.

exhilarating romantic suspense thriller

Human trafficker Carlos Montes raped and brutalized Baltimore police officer Angela Giacomelli while she was on a sting; no cop back-up from the department as expected helped her. Raging she kills the man who walked. As she heads for prison convicted of murder one, Angela knows she would kill her attacker again if she had too even knowing the consequences of her retaliation. On the way to prison, the bus is attacked and Angela is liberated. She joins L.O.S.T undercover operatives like Jax Cassidy. Her assignment is to kill assassin Marcus Cross and then take out his mentor Joseph Lazarus. Marcus was left for dead by his military unit in Afghanistan; his loyalty is to his savior Joseph; an ambitious person targeting domination of the White House. Joseph soon places Marcus on a crash Hobson's choice between his love for Jax (and hers for him) and his unswerving loyalty to his paragon. This is an exhilarating romantic suspense thriller that is fun to read as the action never slows down for a nanosecond. The raging kick-butt heroine and the raging kick-butt hero share in common being left behind by their comrades in arms and trusting almost no one since. Readers will enjoy Karin Harlow's Last Option Special Team tale. Harriet Klausner
