Why isn't this author's genius recognized more widely?

Emilio DeGrazia's Enemy Country, like his 1997 novel, A Canticle for Bread and Stones, is a brilliant work. His talent is rare. Why isn't this author's genius recognized more widely?

Degrazia knows how to spin something rare in this world: An intelligent tale. He understands the language, the power of words, and has a unique ability to use them to their best advantage. For an Italian stuck in East Central Minnesota, he doesn't do too badly.
