Whatever kind of embrodery you do or would like to do, you will find something to fascinate and inspire you in this illustration packed reference companion. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Out of the ten books I acquired to help me with an embroidery project, this one was by far the most helpful. Each section starts with a detailed description of the "type" of embroidery it covers, the fabrics to use it with, the thread required, and any special needles. Most helpful were the illustrated instructions for each stitch, showing both a real life picture of the stich along with a diagram giving the start and finish points as A, B, C etc. Although I did not attempt any of the little projects proposed, I was intrigued by the cutwork "Brooch Cushion," "The Lavender Bag and Sachet," and "The Hardanger Tablemat" which used the most beautiful lacy threadwork. I highly recommend the purchase of this book as a wonderful reference for those interested in the many types of embroidery stitches or for use as an intructional project idea book. Very well done and put together.

I don't know anything about embroidery but wanted to participate in some family activities with my sister and mother. They were embroidering tea towels and I thought I'd give it a go. This book has been very helpful. It also makes me want to keep at it until I can do more complex stitches.
Perfect book for those who want to learn on their own
