Library favorite

Like previous reviewers, I too read this in my school library during my younger days. It's been more than 10 years since I've had the chance to experience this wonderful book again. One of the best books I've ever read. And Ambrus' illustrations are just splendid!

A gem in my school library as a kid

Liike the other two posts here, I recall finding this book by chance in my school library in South Texas when I was in elementary school. From the first time I checked it out, I became hooked on monsters and scary creatures. I must have checked this book out a million times over, back to back - the illustrations are great and at the time, to a kid, made my imagination run wild with a mixture of scariness, curiosity and awe. As I have grown older I have always been on the lookout for this book and recently have seen a few old copies on the internet. I now live in Northern Ireland and have a 2 and half year old son of my own, and I am really hoping to buy a copy so that I may read to him when he starts to get into his own monster phase. If any of you out there have a fascination with monsters - whether you're a kid or a grown up - I would echo the sentiments of the other posts and urge you to check out this book from your own local library or get your hands on a copy. The illustrations were magnificent, they fire the imagination while the text and descriptions for each monster or creature fill your mind with fear and awe (well, if you're a young kid in any case).

Read It. You'll Like It.

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF LEGENDARY CREATURES REVIEW This was a great book. It tells about monsters and the people who were afraid of them. My favorite monster was Bay-kok, a Native American story. This is a good book to read for school or just for fun. If you see a copy at a bookstore, buy it. You will love it. This is one of my favorite books. Everyone that I have shown it to has loved it too! I have liked this book since I was seven years old and have checked it out from the library five or six times in the last three years. It is a good book to read.

Great Book

A great book It has iformation on both mythilogical creatures and more modern creatures such as The Loch Ness Monster. One year I checked it out from my schools libary for almost the whole year. When my time expired I checked it out again and again. My sister also liked it to. One time I was going to check it out but I couldn't someone else had it. I asked if I could be put on a waiting list for but as it turned out my sister had checked it out.
