This is a beautiful book with lovely pictures. In a book about plants, fresh and crisp pictures are very important. This book certainly has that. The only negative part of this book is that it's very expensive. I thought the book was going to be thicker and loaded with more pictures and was quite disappointed that it didn't have all the pictures for every plant in the garden.

Book contains about 250 pages and is divided into 14 sections. Sections are Trees, Conifers, Shrubs, Perennials, Annuals, Climbers, Roses, Bulbs, Alpines, Aquatic, Cacti, Orchids, Ferns, and Grasses. Each section contains a general introduction, followed by a detailed list of 150 to 300 plants. Each plant is identified to species and variety. Each contain a paragraph or two of information (like flower color, bloom time, hardiness zone, etc). About five pictures per page (about 2" size). Pictures are very crisp and clear. Solid photography. This is a great plant encyclopedia, lots of excellent information!Another fine encyclopedia is the, "American Horticultural Society A To Z Encyclopedia Of Garden Plants". I own both books and both are great values. You can never have too much plant information :-)The "Encyclopedia of Garden Plants" is a valuable source for plant identification and horticultural facts. The book will be a superb addition to your gardening library!
