Amzing detail and a great story!

I must say reading this book and the first book of the triology has been great. These 2 books have amazing details of every fight. The books touch on almost every emotion. There are a few sentences of dialog that make you laugh gloruious battle that give you goose bumps and tragedy when heros die. If you love warhammer fantasy and have been following it as long as i have you will like this book. I just cant wait untill the last book is released

Great Book If You Stick With It

This is the second book in the series. I hadn't read the first one, so that may color my review a little, but it was enjoyable in its own right. I started out not liking the story. It starts with a whole lot of boring details about their finalizing the creation of the empire, presumably from the first story. I almost quit reading because it was pretty dull, I wasn't familiar with the characters, and there are a ton of people/places/things to memorize the name of. However, after getting into the first battle, the book picked up. The story is essentially how Sigmar handles cementing his power. There's a build up, then preparation time, then a build up, a battle, repeat. Much like there would be in real life. It's told almost as a series of three mini-novels with an overarching story binding them. I really liked the style and felt it made for a very good flow. The three major campaigns involve fighting a rouge king who refused to support the rest of mankind against the Orcs, a battle against a Necromancer, and ultimately the fight against a group that are essentially Vikings. The battles were told really well with a lot of detail about the warriors and tactics. Every battle was compelling and there weren't very many repeated battle scenarios like some books have. All in all, the book was long enough, compelling enough, and just plain fun enough that I have no reservations suggesting it. The story is mostly done by the end of the book, but it leaves itself open enough to continue into the next one. Even if you haven't read the first book and don't read the last, this on still stands on it's own as a worthwhile read.

Empire (Time of Legends: Sigmar Trilogy) Book Review

In all this was a good book to pick up and read, it cleared up a lot of questions about the war hammer universe, and also tells you that if you are invited to a royal wedding it is a really good idea to go there and check it out. You will want to pick up the books in the series, this is the middle book and the first book is going to fill in some of the ideas and thoughts as well as character actions that you will want to understand throughout this book. Overall it was a fun read, and enjoyable as one of my first ventures into the war hammer universe. The black library makes an interesting premise that will keep the reader entertained while there is enough action and adventure to keep the story moving. Overall rated 5 of 5 stars - this was worth reading.

Mcniell delivers the goods!

I picked up this book primarily because of the Author. I'd read a couple of works from him in the past and had enjoyed his vivid and clear writing style with good description of battles and the emotions that warriors felt both on and off the battlefield. This book was no different, Mcniell delivers the goods on this work as well. He's crisp and articulate and brings this world to life. I'll admit that I'm not a gamer and had never read a Warhammer novel but have become somewhat of a fan of Warhammer 40K. Overall, I was happy that I chose Mcniell to take me into this world and guide me around. It did feel that I could smell the sweat of the warriors and the dampness of the forest floor, the cracking of twigs, the labored breaths of men marching etc. It was a good ride. If you're a gamer, I think you'll find quite a bit of material here that can provide depth to a gaming experience - at the very least it broadens this ever growing world.

The second book takes place shortly after the evetns of Black Fire Pass and the bloody war with the Orcs. Sigmar sees great things and great hardships ahead.
