Excellent Reference Manual

This is really a reference textbook for the education of new EMT's, but the information it contains is complete, concise and extremely up-to-date (important in a field that is changing ALL the time!)Highly recommended as a text to have on your EMS shelf.

Good reference for the EMT

This text is traditionally seen in the classroom, however not all EMT classes utilize this text and some technicians may not be familiar with it. In essence, the text is designed to provide the necessary knowledge to become an Emergency Medical Technician.Content includes basic physiology, medical terminology, patient assessment, and emergency interventions on the basic life support level. The book assumes no prior medical knowledge on the part of the reader and the information is presented in a clear and logical manner. The text is also useful to the layman who would appredciate a more in depth approach to the recognition of medical emergencies and life saving interventions.

Great Book for the future of EMTs

I am an EMT Basic student and use this book very much. It is a very easily read book with a good amount of emphasis on the practical applications neccesary for emergency care. It is also divided for ease of refernce, which is neccessary for quick checks of how to do something.

Setting the new standard of EMTB education

After teaching EMTB classes and using many different texts over the 20+ years, I was very pleased to see that the AAOS is once again setting the standard with the 7th edition. Unlike the competition, the AAOS EMTB 7th has gone the extra mile with incredible design and instructor support. The readability, design and depth of content has already paid huge dividends for my students in the field. Did I mention the internet with the AAOS 7th? This text utilizes a true "system" of learning that helps students develop confidence and competence by all kinds of activites. Visit www.emtb.com for a preview. All in all, this is probably the best EMT book ever developed and I look forward to more titles from the AAOS.

A very complete book outlining Emergency Care ON SCENE

This book is the basis of the Curriculum of the California State Fire Marshal's EMT-I Course. Later editions, particularly the sixth (Haven't seen the seventh)Edition eliminates a lot of the background material that is in this fifth edition. The book uses the U.S. Dept of Transportation guidelines for its content. Obviously with the AAOS as the author, it has a very strong TRAUMA section.
