Embraced by the Father: Finding Grace in the Names of God

Women instinctively seek security. They want to feel loved and protected by someone who cares for them. For many women, their earthly fathers failed miserably in this role. In Embraced by the Father, Susanne Scheppmann explains how God invites every woman to dance with Him as a daughter might stand on tiptoe on her daddy's feet to high step across the room.
Through the metaphor of dance, women will recognize the grace, strength, and security...

Embraced by the Father

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the names of God, but not be bogged down with a lot of technical theological terms? Then I have the perfect book for you! Written by Susanne Scheppmann, Embraced by the Father is a practical book about how God meets are every need in every situation. Most of us probably know that Abba means Father, but to hear Susanne talk about it after knowing the dysfunctional family she came from brings a whole new meaning to Abba. I was engrossed from the moment I started the 12 chapter book with references to ballroom dancing and the names of God and couldn't put it down. There are questions and journal prompts at the end of each chapter to make it into a nice devotional book. Each chapter deals with a different name of God and Susanne uses personal and biblical application to make those names come alive so we can apply them to our lives! I highly recommend this book if you are curious about what each of the names of God mean. You may have heard El Shaddai, but do you know what it means? There may even be a name of God in there you haven't heard before. Become a New Hope Book Review Blogger. Visit [...] for more information.

Embraced by the Father

Susanne Scheppmann had a difficult upbringing. The daughter of an alcoholic father and a schizophrenic mother who passed away when Susanne was just fourteen years old, she believed that God did not see her or care about her. When her father remarried a Christian woman, she helped Susanne find Jesus. Embraced by the Father is an accounting of Susanne's "dance" with God as she explores the names of God that helped her find peace and healing. She takes us on that journey to help us find the same peace and healing that she found. I was quickly drawn into this book when Susanne started talking about feeling like a wallflower. I can definitely relate to that feeling, especially while I was growing up. She no longer felt like a wallflower once she began her dance with God and let Him lead her. I loved the theme of dancing that she used in this book and I loved the personal almost memoir feel that this book has. Making this book even more personal, she has included in each chapter questions and pages for journaling, prayer, and reflection. Susanne really digs into God's Word and illustrates the names of God and all the different ways God sees us, loves us and wants to heal us. Embraced by the Father is a very tender, personal book. Although Susanne discusses some difficult situations from her past, this book does not feel heavy. At the same time it is not fluff. She writes in a practical way that all women will appreciate as we begin our dance with God. This book was provided for review by New Hope Publishers.

Dancing with Jesus

Are you a faithful fan of "Dancing with the Stars"? Yes? Keep reading. Not so much? Keep reading. Are you curious about what Hagar, Sarah, Esther, Elisha, Gideon, and others have in common with the waltz, the fox trot, and the jitterbug? Embraced by the Father, Susanne Scheppmann's latest Bible study, uses a background of dance themes to teach us that "God wants (us) to `dance through life' in His everlasting arms." Susanne weaves the stories (some deeply moving, some incredibly hilarious) of her own life of wanting to be embraced by the father with the stories of Bible characters finding God's grace in the names of God. Embraced can be appreciated in several layers. You can read the stories of Susanne's life as a young girl growing up in a seemingly impossible family situation before being rescued and redeemed by an almighty, loving heavenly father. Or, you can study the stories of Bible characters in their journeys with the same gracious father. Or, you can read Embraced to learn the Hebrew names for God and the relevance of those names for us today. Read Embraced by the Father and learn to stand on Jesus' feet as he dances you through his kingdom.

Embracing this book!

What girl doesn't want to be hugged by the perfect, loving father? And as we know our Heavenly Father more, we understand further his grand holiness--his mindboggling perfection. In Embraced by the Father, Susanne Scheppmann shows us just how to know him better, to know his name and all it means. Understanding these truths can change a life and lead to a miraculous grace-filled dance--one that lasts forever. SO the kind of book that gets another, 'nuther, 'nuther read!

Embraced by the Father...Loving the Dance!

As I step on to the dance floor, I embrace the only dance partner who can lead me without ever stepping on my toes. He guides my steps expertly, and I allow him to spin me wildly about knowing in his arms I will never lose control. He teaches me dance steps I've never danced before and he makes me feel like I am the only dance partner he wants to dance with. He hums the music in my ear as he gently twirls me around and around and with every step I am drawn closer and closer to him. This is the imagery I am left with about my Lord after reading this amazing book! I have a dance partner for life...Jesus! This book puts a whole new and unique spin on how much the Father loves us!
