Fantastic

I just finished reading this book. It's fantastic and really shows how much Sonny West loved and admired Elvis. I laughed out loud and also cried reading the book. Sonny did explain about the book What Happened and my feeling is that the they didn't write the book to get even.osy of what they wrote had been written before in other books. How ever, some of those books where written after Elvis died. I wish I could have personally told Sonny what a beautiful and touching book he wrote. Thank you Sonny. RIP & GOD BLESS

LOVED THIS BOOK!

This Book was very very good! Lots of new stories in this book. Sonny tells us about what it was like to work for Elvis and also be his friend. he tells us about when himself Red and Dave were fired. I have read Sonny's last book on Elvis {Elvis What Happened} I thought it was written out of anger at being fired but Sonny explains a little better to us about that time and the true reason behind that book I do feel better about Sonny after reading this book. I also loved the section in the back where Sonny tells a little about some of the other guys that worked for Elvis and What they are doing now. This is a very good read! Great job Sonny and God Bless!

Sonny West's Book Is Vital Reading For Elvis Fans

Like many, I have read dozens, if not hundreds, of books on Elvis. It would most certainly be agreed among those who focus on Elvis reading that there are only about four or five members of Elvis' inner circle who have yet to release a book on him following his untimely death. One of these people is Sonny West. This book does not disappoint for a number of reasons. First, this book was written by someone who was there. One need only thumb through any other Elvis book on a shelf to find a picture of Sonny with Elvis. Sonny was not there for a limited period of time. He was there through the major events in Elvis' life and this book provides Sonny's perspective on these events. Second, this book provides specific details of events not presented in other books. For instance, Elvis' meetings with the Beatles and Muhammad Ali are described in much more detail in this book than any other. As I'm sure others would agree, the joy in reading Elvis books comes from getting certain prespectives from those who may be in the same room at a particular time. Sonny realizes this and is not shy about giving details. Third, Sonny presents his perspective of events and other people in Elvis' inner circle with an honesty not seen in other books. Sonny writes not as someone bitter about people or past events, but as a man who is sitting back after years of thought and writing from his heart. If he has negative thoughts, he gives reasons why. If he has positive thoughts, he provides those reasons as well. And, fourth, this book sets certain records straight. At the time "What Happened?" was released the Elvis world was a different place. I am grateful that Sonny chose to pick up a pen and write "Still Taking Care of Business." All Elvis fans are grateful whenever we can get a new perspective on Elvis and perhaps shed some more light around what led to the final result. Sonny's book helps in that ultimate endeavor. Sonny truly wanted the best for Elvis, and this book shows it.

Wonderful Read and Made a Believer Out of Me

I didn't want to read this as I still held a big grudge after Elvis, What Happened? I did read it and after the introduction I was hooked and couldn't put it down. You can feel the love in every page that Sonny has for Elvis and I think you had to be there to feel the frustration of not beging able to help near the end. Many stories were totally new to me and some were touching bringing me to tears. I hope to meet Sonny West to thank him for setting the record straight about his love and friendship with Elvis. i highly recommend this book to all Elvis Fans. NancyB

Sonny West's no holds-barred memoir of his life with Elvis

Infuriatingly open and honest, you'll find that you just want to shake some sense into Elvis and into those around him during the pinnacle of Elvis's drug use and his obsession with firearms. Then Sonny reminds us all how human each of us is, including Elvis; and, that no one is the sum total of their mistakes or their choices. Not your typical "Elvis" book, Sonny West offers insight that no one but someone at the side of Elvis can possibly know. Along with biographer Marshall Terrill, Sonny has created an image of Elvis that goes beyond pop culture into the loneliness and humanness of a man thrust into a life that eventually swallows him up. You'll laugh out loud, certainly get ticked off, shake your head in absolute wonder. It's a book not to be missed.
