A Convincingly Honest & Heartfelt Recount of Seventeen Years With Elvis!

I was very impressed with Billy Stanley's book recounting the 17 years he spent with his stepbrother, Elvis. It rang true and his tone throughout the book was genuine and heartfelt. There were no exploitive elements that I could discern, just a genuine attempt to set the record straight. It seems that Dee Stanley and her sons have not been treated kindly when looking back through the prism of history. I find that sad and unjust. One simple fact that powerfully highlights their integrity is; as their mother, Dee, had married Vernon Presley when they were little boys, their family name could rightly have been changed to "Presley." When they were older, and were asked to decide about their surname, they opted to keep "Stanley" in order to honor their biological Father. "Presley" comes with such worldwide fame, recognition and dollar signs. Yet they chose to honor their Father and keep his name. Simply put; Integrity! That decision said more than words could ever say. There are others involved in Elvis's story who have done everything possible (and continue to do so) to exploit and use the Presley name for their own gain. Enough said! Loved the book. Thank you, Billy.

Hard to put down

this book was great I thought Davids book was good but this one is much better and very very interesting. I think Billy was honest in telling his story even the part about Elvis taking his wife from him. it is just a very good read for all Elvis fans!

Elvis & Billy Stanley - good read!

I found this book to be rather interesting. It's obvious that Elvis had a special relationship with his step-brothers. All Elvis fans should read this book. Why are so many people jealous of the Stanley boys and Dee Presley? They give these bad reviews of the books they wrote. I'm sure they would have loved to be in their place. And what a good way to honor their brother by writing a book. At least they didn't make Elvis look like a monster as Priscilla Presley did in her book, Elvis & Me!
