Striving For the Elite

The British SAS have a motto that reads: 'Who Dares, Wins' and perhaps that same spirit, attitude, and determination can be said of those soldiers found in Elite Warriors. This is a fine history of those in uniform (although, not always) who dared and maybe didn't always win but who went forward when others couldn't or wouldn't. The United States has a mildly long but rich history when it comes to soldiering and those who serve with distinction deserve their brief time in the limelight. Some in this book actually fall into the amazing category. So why do I quote a British motto for this review about the American military elite? Simple. Robert Rogers, who is considered the father of the American Ranger, is also the father of the Queen's Rangers and the fighting principles he laid down then hold true today. His daring helped give rise to the Spec Ops people we have serving today. If you are a fan of American military history then you'll enjoy this book. I know I did.

Very Good Book About Unconventional Units

This book was a required reading for my Unconventional Warfare class in college. I believe it's the only college that has the class and I gotta say this was a very informative book on America's unconventional warfare units.

Pretty good

I liked the pictures in the book which provided the narrative with a visual sense of history. This book is less strong on detail, but provides a marvellous breadth to anyone interested in finding out more about the U.S. special operations community.
