This is a wonderful novel!

Gripping and fun! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Well written and moves at a fast pace, this political thriller offers more than suspense and mysteries. There is a love story, and the friendship between the narrator and the assassinated historian is moving. The part of the story about the Cuban spies is highly plausible. From a historical perspective, I thought the story of the leftist movements in Latin America in the 70's and 80's is very well done. The novel should be translated to English

Best buy: a tour de force for a first novel

I do not consider myself a knowledgeable or educated person in this kind of novels, but I must say that I found Sebastian Edward's first novel a rewarding experience. A true tale of intrigue. El Misterio de las Tanias is written in a easy-to-follow prose, captivating style (I read the Spanish version, 3rd ed.). The novel grabs your attention from the very first sentence and pushes you to the boundries of suspense til the very end. One constantly feels that the "trama" is about to end, but it goes on and on. The story is plenty of surprises. Besides, the ending is magnificent, sensible and, at the same time, unexpected. The story is plagued with historical facts and real places around the world (hotels, streets, monuments, restaurants and coffee spots, shopping places, stores and the like). This gives a sense of reality that is hard to find in other thrillers or novel. The story is so well put up and unravels in such a way that the reader undoubtly wonders whether this is just the authors' wonderful imagination or there is some real espionage going on in Latin America, or both. Edwards' first novel is an act of skill, endurance, imagination, strength and, above all, achievement. By the way, I had to buy the book from a US seller. It is a pity that the book is not yet available in Mexico or Spain, for example.
