Great book

Awesome book about having meningitis at a young age! Cece lost her hearing at four because of meningitis and stayed in the hospital for a little bit and lost her hearing and wore a big hearing aid on her chest.Cece thought of herself as a hero named el deafo. Cece had a hard time making friends. When she started school she drifted from her best friend. She made another friend soon after. That friend wasn’t so friendly but Cece pretended she was fine. Then, she made another friend that Cece didn’t want to be friends with because she wasn’t very friendly either. But, one of her friends was awesome and became El deafo’s sidekick. One day, Cece hurt her eye and needed glasses. El deafo’s sidekick thought it was her fault and didn’t play with Cece for a long time. Cece got an eyepatch and wanted to show her best friend. (El deafo’s sidekick) but she wouldn’t open her door to her house. A lot later, at school they made warm fuzzies to make everyone feel good and Cece gave her favorite one to her best friend.(el deafo’s sidekick)

Great book!

Cece is a girl who gets meningitis at a very young age. She spends a while in hospital, and she cannot hear after that. I like this story because she thinks of herself as a superhero called “El Deafo”, and is trying to find a friend.

Loved It.

I think it's a great story about a young kid who has to deal with the difficulties of hearing loss. They identify the struggles and differences they face but also provide a lot of valuable information about it. Great book for kids to learn about other people and their unique situations.
