Egypt History

I purchased this book as a gift for my 19-year old niece. She absolutely loves it which really pleased me. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. Great for History buffs who want to know more recent information about Eqypt.

EGYPT AND THE EGYPTIANS

The book arrived in a timely fashion and was in terrific shape. I loved the book! Thank you!

Very informative; could have been proofread better.

I've enjoyed reading the local university's copy of this book. I did run into a couple of jarring typographical errors that a competent human proofreader/factchecker would have caught. The most disturbing of these was the statement that the headwaters of the Blue Nile are at "Lake Tanganyika, high in the Ethiopian plateau". The headwaters of the Blue Nile are at Lake Tana, high in the Ethiopian plateau. Lake Tanganyika is half a continent to the south. Big difference.Except for a couple of these weird typos, it's a very good book.I like Brewer's "Domestic Plants and Animals: The Egyptian Origins" better, though.

good

everything that francesca jourdan said about this book is true, it does have alot of info. the only thing i did not like about this book is that it is written is school book form. it is hard to get into this book, but once you do you find out it is very informative.

great book for beginners of Ancient Egypt

This book, whose chapters are organized topically, presents important aspects of ancient Egypt. It covers the history, cities, government, geography, language, beliefs, art, architecture, tombs, religion, monotheism, gods, society, marriage, entertainment, dress, jewelry and the Nile river. The authors also discuss the ancient Egyptians' beliefs in life and their conception of death. Common archaeological and Egyptological terms are explained in the glossary. An excellent bibliography is included. A recommended well-written book, it is most useful for those who know little, if nothing, of this civilization and its people.
