This is my favorite Gwen Cleary book. It keeps you captivated from page one. This is a book you can read over and over without getting bored. From back cover: Elizabeth Hollis is a stowaway on a ship bound for the Montana Territory when a scheming young woman threatens to have her arrested if she won't assume the other womans identity. Still pretending to be the heiress she meets the other womans fiance and refuses to give up the masquerade because she falls in love with the other girls fiance, Cord Chandler. Cord came to the ship to break the engagement after hearing about the scheming heiresses sordid past, but when the dark-haired beauty gazed so innocently up into his eyes he instead wants to shelter her from the world. As they travel to his home he is confronted with more and more things that don't add up and so with a gambler, the real heiress and the warrant out for Elizabeths arrest the book soon heats up and doesn't let you go.
