The true spiritual heir to Dorothy Sayers

Lately I've been wondering why, every time I find myself reading an incredible book by a writer in the Anglican tradition, it was always written "long ago" (that is, in the early 20th century). Time and again, I find myself holding a life-changing tome by Dorothy Sayers, Austin Farrer, Evelyn Underhill, or Charles Williams -- and wondering where on earth the writers in the Anglican tradition are today. Now, I've finally found one -- Edith Humphrey is it! This book on the reintegration of orthodox doctrine and orthodox spirituality crackles with the intelligence -- and even the excitement -- so evident in Sayers' inimitable writings. This is a voice -- well-grounded in the biblical and patristic tradition -- that desperately needs to be heard in these days of burgeoning "non-dual spirituality" and other shallow digressions away from the depth of the Faith once delivered to the Saints (saints who she calls forth graciously throughout the text).
