I found Econation to be a thought provoking piece of work. It begins with a short story of a young Cahuilla Indian boy and his marriage. Throughout this story the author weaves the tribal perspectives of the way it use to be with regards to love and respect of the land and its ability to sufficiently supply the needs of its people. The author says it best, I believe, when he states, "They coexisted with the natural world and never thought once to dominate it. Life was oftentimes hard in a harsh environment, but it was also magical and wonderful, simple yet diverse, and always meaningful."
