Not a fad diet book.

The author makes some good points and backs most of them up with science. There is a whole chapter on how the Atkins Diet is bogus which by the references he cites makes sense. The author does fail in logic by making claims about vegetarian diets in people and the similarities to vegetarian diets in herbavores. There are a couple other claims you have to watch out for but in the end the diet is solid just don't believe everything you read.

Excellent Book on Nutrition!

With so many books on the market written by so called nutrition "experts," this one really has substance and is based on scientific research. I've been following Robert Haas' books and recommendations since the mid 80's and have found his work to be very practical, results oriented, and enjoyable to read. As a certified personal trainer, I recommend this book as well as other Haas books for all of my clients.

Eat to Win For the 21st Century by Haas

This book is a goldmine of dietary information. The work has a complete delineation of natural foods and sample menus. Low fat foods and high nutrient combinations are set forth for testing by the participants. A chapter describes classic symptomatology associated with eating the wrong foods. i.e. incomplete digestion, allergic reactions, constipation etc. The author provides a safety index for a multiplicity of foods. Samples of "safe foods" are high fiber nutrients, olive oil, broccoli and leafy green veggies. The work also has an extensive section which describes the optimal weight/height for people of all sizes. Foods ; such as, salmon are rich in Omega 3 nutrients. There is a caloric density statistic to describe fat loss. This work is perfect for anyone seeking to eat high nutrient food to enhance health, lose weight or utilize food to enhance stamina. The acquisition would be an important addition to a nutritional library.

Right on the money

Mr. Haas does it again. I have periodically followed the original Eat To Win diet with great success, now this. The system is sound and proven in the field. I currently practice mixed martial arts, and run through some vigorous training sessions... This is the diet I need to perform... I challenge any Atkins buff to train as hard as these fighter's do while eating the way they do.... You career won't last long, neither will your fights....
