One of my sons favorites!

My 2.5 year old son loves this book. He asks us to read it over and over and has some parts memorized since we read it so often! He likes looking at all the different trucks and commenting on them. Recently we saw a street being repaired while we were out driving and he pointed and told us they were making an "easy street". :) Its cute and educational!

Perfect for a vehicle-obsessed child!

My 2-year-old son absolutely loves this book! I have to admit, I enjoy reading it to him as well. The fun, patty-cake-style rhyme scheme and the adorable illustrations go together perfectly to make this one of our favorites. Now every time we see a picture of a roller, my son will say, "Roll it, roll it, wheels so fat..."! I love this book and only wish it came in a board book version, since we have a few torn pages from frequent reading.

Amazingly beautiful illustrations

This is just a lovely, lovely book. The illustrations are so warm and beautiful, I find myself stopping to admire them each time I read East Street to my kids. Our kids love this book. They, too, seem fascinated by the drawings. When we first bought it, we read it to them. But now they are reading on their own, and this very special book is one of their favorites. Its simple style of language makes it easy for them to sound out: They can now predict the words as they come, they've read it so much. I can't say enough about the illustrations. It is worth having the book just to look at them. I find myself thinking back to my own childhood, watching black, black asphalt being pressed down, with that unforgettable smell. You can almost touch the gravel and the other textural effects. Kids love it!

Excellent

My son received this as a gift for his first birthday. And he utterly enjoys this book beyond description. It is the ONLY book he will ask to hear again, as many times as you will read it to him (and I now have the entire thing memorized - thankfully it is FUN to read as an adult with the rhyming and rhythm). I love the illustrations, as does he. A really cool book for little boys, and I imagine it will only get better as he grows bigger and understands more about trucks and construction. HIGHLY recommended.
