Usborne Easy French

A great fun way to learn every day words and phrases plus explanations that are definitive, clear, and/or concise. This is one important item not always received in class. Also a good break from the every day text and its routine.

Nifty Little Book

This book is a great introduction to French, teaches basic grammar, and keeps you entertained the whole time. The story you read while learning is in comic form, with clear pictures to help you understand what's going on. If you don't remember a word in the text, there's a translation of the dialogue in English and a dictionary in the back. Also has internet links to practice. I also recommend Easy Spanish and Easy German.
