VERY WISE, VERY PRACTICAL...

Barbara Joy's book provides practical tools for all parents, not only moms in recovery. With a gentle touch and a sense of humor, the author acknowledges the great challenges of raising children and gives simple suggestions to help us become the parents we want to be. Easy Does It, Mom teaches us that just as our children need encouragement and acceptance to become healthy adults, we need the same things to become better parents. And Barbara Joy shows us how to get what we need. This book is a great gift for moms-to-be, as well as moms of adult children.

This book is for every parent!!!

I have bought this book for the women I love and who love being the best mom they can be. It is easy to read, offers great stories and examples, words of encouragement, and easy journaling questions to look inside your heart and discover things about yourself. I don't believe there isn't a parent,in recovery or not, who wouldn't be able to benefit from this.

Marvelous book

Easy Does it,Mom is a must read for all persons of any age that are parents or who are considering being parents. As a grandmother of six, I also enjoyed Barbara Joy's humor and honesty. I especially loved the affirmations. I have given this book to parents and soon to be parents, and also a school teacher as a gift. Am waiting patiently for her next book. I give it a 5 star rating.

Of valuable consideration to mothers who want to mother and stay clean at the same time

Mothers are not unstoppable care machines; they are human like everyone else. "Easy Does It, Mom: Parenting in Recovery" is a guide for mothers coping with their recovery from addictions, whether from drugs, alcohol or even tobacco. Being a mother is a stressful job, and high stress has a high tendency to make those in recovery relapse into their addictions for a bit of comfort in chaotic situations. "Easy Does It, Mom" is of valuable consideration to mothers who want to mother and stay clean at the same time.

for MORE than just moms in recovery

I loved reading Barbara Joy's book, EASY DOES IT, MOM. Her style of writing is engaging and easy to follow. The systems that Joy lays out for effective parenting, while dealing with recovery issues, I find broadly applicable to all relationships and dealing with personal challenge of any sort. Parenting in Recovery as a sub-title is true - and yet this book reaches out to a much broader audience than just parents in recovery. I remember one of the first things my mother - in - law ever said to me was that she just did the best she could at her parenting. That there wasn't a handbook on how to be a good parent. Too bad Barbara Joy's book wasn't around when she was a challenged, young mother. It would have been just the handbook she was lamenting missing out on. This book is a helpful guide to parenting. Period. With or without recovery issues. Barbara Joy is supportive, encouraging and provides profound guidance. This book is practical and should be in every family's library - read and read again.
