Easier said, but definitely done

Kingston Phillips realizes that things aren't always the way they seem, even when everything is falling into place. Just when she is about to embark on the pinnacle of success, her world is shattered by the loss of her grandmother. Going back to Jamaica permanently is not in the cards for Kingston, at least thats what she thinks. Unknowingly, her deceased grandmother had other plans. Still reeling from losing the one man that put the fire into her heart, she unexpectedly rejoins his company. Will her hurt and confusion outweigh the love that has rekindled? Although this is her first novel, Nikki Woods weaves a poignant tale of love, hurt, self-discovery and forgiveness. I highly recommend it and look forward to more writing from this author.

Fresh

Fresh, warm, and rich with life, that's Nikki Woods's "Easier Said Than Done." It was a most enjoyable read. She blended love, confusion, problems within family, friends, and lover well. Kingston's life changing events were not out of the realm of reality. Yet, Nikki handled the transition with a fresh spin. Love between Damon and Kingston was encouraging and heartwarming. Yet I didn't quite get his explanation for being absent from her life for 10 years. But I guess this is a trait of some men. The ending was predictable and I was glad. I enjoyed the book and the feeling it left me with. Thank you for the experience, Nikki. Minnie E Miller Author/Publisher of "Catharsis"

Refreshing- an excellent read!!!!

Kingston Phillips' world is turned upside down when her grandmother dies and leaves Kingston her estate in beautiful Jamaica. Faced with giving up what she has worked hard for, jealous family members, and devastating issues from her past, Kingston not only learns to give in to what her heart has been telling her for years, but also discovers that sometimes life is.. Easier Said Than Done! Great job- Nikki!

Saying it is Half the Battle

"Easier Said Than Done", Nikki Woods' debut novel, is a deliciously written masterpiece that has the page turning elements of a "messy" soap opera. Kingston Phillips is living the good life in Chicago as the lead executive for a newly established hip-hop label and has just signed her first client. After an evening of celebrating her current success with her friends, Essence and Keela, an early morning phone call from a relative in Jamaica brings her back to reality with the news of her grandmother's death. When she returns to the island, not only is she informed of her grandmother's last wish that she acts as the executor of the estate but learns that Dr. Damon Whitfield, the man who broke her heart ten years ago, is the one who cared for her grandmother. Told in first person point of view, "Easier Said Than Done" is a good, slow read with characters so believable they jump off the page and act out the storyline for you. There are themes of betrayal, forgiveness, family, and friendship intricately woven into a beautifully written love story with tastefully erotic sex scenes. The settings were so descriptive I could feel the brisk chill of Chicago and the hot sun of Jamaica. This is a definite weekend read that will make you re-evaluate the things that make you say: "Easier Said Than Done". Freshman novelist, Nikki Woods proved with this literary escape that making the decision to do anything is all about getting it done.

Great Read

Nikki Woods, has written a realistic story with well structured and believable characters. It kept me turning the pages laughing at some of the characters as they reminded me of people that I know. Kingston Phillips was doing her thing, enjoying her life and thought she had every brick in place. When her grandmother died the bricks begin tumbling down leaving Kingston with choices she didn't want. When she learned her grandmother had money it came as a surprise considering she had been sending her grandmother money for years. Finding out she was now in charge of her grandmother's considerable fortune and now having to deal with greedy, jealous relatives was not what Kingston had in mind. Add to the mix, Damon, a man Kingston had given her heart to at six years old and later her body when she was in college. There are some extremly powerful dream scenes brought on by a childhood tragedy. There were also scenes where I would have sworn I was in church. Between the backstabbing, greedy and jealous characters it keeps the story lively and moving along at a nice pace. I think it's a story that will speak to eveyone on some level and will remind people of at least one person in their own lives. I'm looking forward to reading Ms. Woods next novel. Well done Nikki Woods.
