Amazingly relevant today - must have for all Christian ministries

After being a part of a revival over a decade ago in Fort Mill, SC, this book brought me some much needed clarity and understanding regarding the dynamics of revival. My paradigm of revival has shifted and I experienced healing in reading this book. I'm so thankful. My Pastor who I'm blessed blessed to call Father-in-law is an excellent, passionate, and clear-writing author. His words are coated in humility and grace. I found myself shocked from beginning to end that this book was written in 1999 as it's entirely relevant today and I want everyone to read it because it's so important. To give you a taste, here is a quote from page 12, Revival is not Christian friends shaking hands after church in Sunday and saying, "I'll see you next week, same time, same pew." Revival is what each of us does all week long. It is the daily crucifixion of the self-life. It is the diligent intercession for others and the consistent cramming of the Word into our spirit-man. Revival is the fired-up praise and worship of a close-up and personal God, and the solitary, fervent dialogue we find in the secret closets of prayer. It is the wrestling of demons, the declaration of the Word and the sharing of one's faith with the lost and hopeless of humanity. Beloved, this is the true revival, and from it spring great awakenings." This book is laced with history of past moves of God where strange manifestations took place, demons were cast out, and the miraculous seemed much more prevalent. Believers were shaped into the image of Christ- lowliness meekness, and humility. The fruit of true revival reveals itself in time. God shakes out the flesh and draws his children unto Himself. Chip discusses signs of impending revival and what stops revival. What an important hand book on ministry in general. Our book club was extremely blessed working our way through this book with many notes and highlights. Contact chiphillministries to place an order.

A rare treasure in looking at the realities of Revival

"The Dynamics of Revival" by Chip Hill is a book rich with history of past revivals, yet pregnant with hope for the "Third Day ", Remnant church. Anyone with a longing to see God move in their midst will be encouraged and challenged to press on and to seek God's face more fervently than ever before. Chip is very definite about what revival is and what it is not. "Revival is not a five day seminar in a plush motel ballroom. It is not a set of inspiring tapes from a recent convention in a distant city ... It is not even the book you hold in your hands..." "It is not Christian friends shaking hands after Church on Sunday and saying, "I'll see you next week, Same time, same pew...." "In true revival, men's hearts are not gently brushed by the Spirit's convicting power, but rather they are pierced through!.... It is the daily crucifixion of the self-life..." "Revival is warfare... Revival is the fired- up praise and worship of a close-up personal God...."Chip is honest about the sovereign hand of God in Revival saying, "Men cannot design it to suit themselves...THe Holy Spirit goes where He wishes, does what He wishes and blesses Whom He wishes. Fresh winds and fires of God need no help" The author is also very honest about the cost.... "In the mighty visitations of God, the character of men will be thrown into the Refiner's Fire..." "The Lord had no desire to impress people with anything in or of Himself. He only wanted to love them into the arms of God.." Chip firmly believes that the Holy Spirit is "saving the best for last, and this final grand outpouring will be worldwide in scope, precipitating Jesus' return in splendid power..."The author, being a great admirer of Leonard Ravenhill quotes him in saying "I can give you one good reason why we don't have revival. Because we are content to live without it." "The Dynamics of Revival " is a book for those who are not content to live without it.
