This is a humerous story about a little girl who defies convention (and the negative criticisms of the boys around her) and plays soccor with the boys' team. Rather than conform, she follows in her mother's (motorcycle riding) footsteps by embracing her unique qualities, continuing to practice and not losing heart. When she is rejected by the boys soccor team as too small and too female, she does not give up, but instead keeps practicing and always carries her soccor cleats (just in case). In the end, at the big game she is the only player who is able to fit into a too-small boys uniform and saves the day by scoring the winning goal despite the fact that her shorts split when she shoots on goal. This book colorfully expresses the belief that successes in life do not come from being brilliant or being a particular gender, but from being in the right place at the right time, being prepared and having the guts to risk being different.
