The Word of God is filled with testimonies of men and women who had metamorphic encounters with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. History tells us of mighty men and women who continued to have radical life-altering encounters so profound that it transformed the culture around them. When you meet Him, everything about you changes. I would even say, if there is an area that you haven't experienced transformation, I wonder if you've really met Him. Compartmentalized Christianity is just religion. Once you've met Him, you want Him to have every part of you, and there is nothing that is off-limits. Once you know Him, you can introduce Him to others. Transformed people, transform people; revived sons and daughters become revivalists. I love the story of the woman at the well?-nothing happens by chance. The woman isn't looking for Jesus; all she wants is water. But Jesus is looking for her. You have to go to Samaria if you want to reach Samaritans. He doesn't avoid Samaria, and He doesn't hurry through it. He is never in a hurry. He always stops for the one. The same thing happened to me. I wasn't really looking for Jesus; I just wanted to stop using drugs. Jesus was looking for me. I wanted freedom from twenty-five years of addiction, but when I met Him, He changed my whole life. He blew the doors open to every compartment I had in my heart. He challenged my every single belief. I was raised in church, and I come from a long line of preachers and evangelists and folks who just love Jesus and His bride. I sat deader than a doornail on the front row of church every Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night, Monday night visitation, choir rehearsal, college and career night, youth group, and every church/school function you can imagine. Every time the doors were open, and even when they were locked, I was at church. My dad was on staff, and my grandfather was the pastor. I even went to the Christian school in the church! I could quote Scripture, sing in the choir, and lead a small group, yet I didn't know Him. I was dead, just like her . . . I used to dream with God and picture myself sitting at the well with Jesus. I wondered what He told her that so radically changed her life. I wondered if He could change mine. I knew in my heart there was something that I was missing in the story because I could not feel the love of God. I wanted to read deeper between the lines and learn about Him; I thought I would be able to understand Him then. I felt like something just needed to click! I had no clue that He wanted to bypass my mind to ravish my heart. It had never crossed my mind that He just wanted to love me. One moment in His presence can undo a lifetime of perversion, rejection, and shame. With just one look, one drink from Him, and you will become the new creation that you have only dreamed about. One conversation with Jesus and your life will never be the same again. Some people are so radically changed once they meet Love Himself that they become agents of Love. Once you drink of His living water, you become a source of living water. One thirsty soul can become a river. You can tell who the other lovers are who have met Him. They have a sparkle in their eyes when they speak about Him. They have spring in their step and limitless hope and faith. Their lives are not their own. They are owned by Love. This is the story of how Love met the woman at the well. This is my story. This is how Love came looking for us.
