This is book is an adventure, back in time. It is about a boy named Wiglaf. He becomes a dragon slayer, if is his fate? This is the first 2 books in the 8 book (and still counting)set. My 9 year old son, couldn't put these books down. He will read for hours. This is good book. A reading delight.

I think this book is perfect for the children who may not be quite ready for the more compex words used in the Harry Potter series.
Great fun and hilarious adventure

My 8-year-old daughter, who is an avid reader, adores this series. She reads the books over and over. The humor is intelligent and funny to both kids and adults. The themes are child friendly and not at all scary, just exciting. The characters are students in "The Dragon Slayers' Academy", who, while learning their trade, also have fun avoiding the steady Academy diet of eels and rescuing notables such as Sir Lancelot. For kids not yet ready for Harry, girls and boys alike, I highly recommend this series.

I really liked this book because it was funny and unusual. There is a pig who speaks pig-latin after a wizard puts a spell on him. At one point I was so tired that I wanted to stop reading but the chapter was so interesting that I had to keep reading and I ended up finishing the book! I can't wait to read the rest of the series! If you like "The Secrets of Droon" by Tony Abbott, you'll really enjoy this book too!
Fun Reading

This book captures the interests of children quite easily. My boys (6 & 8) always clamored for "just one more chapter." They like to play like they are students at the academy. The characters are cleverly developed. The hero, Wiglaf, is the type children enjoy identifying with. He's small and not like the rest of his family, but shows cleverness and kindness. The good characters provide examples of fairness. The story has some funny things for an adult reader too. It's creative like the Harry Potter series, but geared to younger readers both in plot and vocabulary. Even the names, while sounding medieval, seem quite easy to pronounce. It is not scary, even though it features dragons.
