I Hate Ticks!

This is one of the best Dracula stories that I've ever read. The writer puts the old bloodsucker in the 21st century in way that is funny and scary all at the same time. This is the first book in the series and I wish I had read it before I read the other ones. This story introduces the characters and how they released all the monsters. The writer does a good job making the teenagers real. Most teenagers in other books are either too cool or too stupid, like that dude from Phoenix who said this story wasn't any good. That dude is whack! He must be like Slice in this book. I don't know which is worse, the giant bloodsucking ticks or Captain Bob eating his peanut and bologna sandwich. Nina sounds like my older sister -- a bossy know it all. No wonder Captain Bob doesn't like her. Read this book before you read the others in the series. You'll get hooked like I did!

Drac is Back

The Universal Monsters have invaded the 21st Century and all that stands between us and them is a trio of teenagers. Brother are we all in trouble now. This initial book in the Universal Monsters series from Scholastic will introduce you to Nina, Joe, and Captain Bob and how they let loose the six greatest monsters of filmdom -- Dracula, the Wolf Man, Frankenstein, the Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Bride of Frankenstein. The old blood sucker is up to his old tricks, but he's got a new angle and he's out to conquer the 21st Century or destroy it trying.

Old Monsters with New Habits

This new series about the classic Universal Monsters gets off to a great start with Dracula. Garmon's dark humor and style keeps the reader interested in the story. More than just a re-telling of the old Dracula story, this story brings the Old Fang into the 21st Century. You'll find horror, mystery, thriller, and humor in this story of three teenagers who accidently release Dracula and five other monsters into their quiet little home town. The teens are realistically presented and the story is highly creative and intelligent. Unlike other children and young adult horror stories, Garmon doesn't write down to his readers. I could tell that he respects his readers' intelligence and challenges them with his writing style. The horror creeps up on you like a cold wind on a warm day. I can't wait to read all the books in the series.

Dracula Takes a Bite Out of the 21st Century

Wow! What a cool idea for a story! This is more than an updated version of the same old Dracula story! Dracula: Return of Evil introduces the reader to a fast talking, witty, and fun trio of teenagers who quickly discover that their peaceful little resort village has been invaded by the greatest blood sucker of all time -- Count Dracula. But, no one believes them and they have to set out to destroy the evil vampire before he turns the whole town into the walking undead. This is just the first book of a six-part series. Dracula:Return of Evil reintroduces the dead Count in a new a disguise in a new tale of terror for the 21st Century. Some times, the dead don't stay dead for very long!

The first book in a thrilling new teen horror series.

This past summer, teenagers Nina, Joe, and Bob were interns at Universal Studios at Orlando, where they had to chance to try out a new digital projector that showed movies in 3D. But to their disappointment, during a huge storm, the projector broke. A month later, it's fall again, and the teens are back at school. They hear of a series of attacks during which the victims were drained of their blood. The police suspect that the attacks are the work of a cult of wannabe vampires, and that's what Nina, Joe, and Bob think at first, too. But then, when the watch the movie they were watching on the projector the night of the storm, they discover the villain, Dracula, no longer appears in the film. They come to the conclusion that when the projector broke, it released the vampire from the movie into the real world. Although the story was implausible, it was all in good fun. This is a fast-paced horror story with thrills and chills, without being excessively gory.
