Dork On the Run HarperCollins, 2002, 184pp. $5.99 Carol Gorman ISBN 0-06-440970-8 Jerry Flack's life is completely perfect! Jerry has spectacular friends and goes to a terrific school. But everything changes when he decides to run for class president. Jerry Flack goes to Hawthorn Middle school. He is in 6th grade. Jerry is a self proclaimed dork. He believes this because he's not athletic, he doesn't like movie stars, and he's skinny. After he begins campaigning for class president, he gets bullied by a kid named Gabe who is running against him. Jerry becomes miserable and annoyed by this. Brenda, Jerry's friend helps Jerry try and win the class election. Will Jerry decide to back out of running for class president? Read the book to find out. I like this book because Jerry was easy to relate to. He is just a regular kid. This book shows the importance of courage because Jerry has to stand up against Gabe bullying him. I would recommend Dork on the Run to 9-12 year old kids or those who like Carol Gorman, The writing is comical and the story is fast paced, uses narrative voice, realistic dialogue, important themes, and has convincing character development. This book is a funny story of courage and sticking up for one's self.

Joseph Yagers Dork on the run book review

Dork on the run was my favorite book this year because it was about a dork who was brave enough to run for 6-th grade president agaisnt Gade. Jerry Flack is the Dork and he is going to run agasint Gabe Marshall, the coolest guy in the whole 6-th grade. Jerry had to face many cruel tricks that were being played on on him. Gabe and his buddies were doing things like hanging him out a two story building, cutting his hair, and tolit papering his house and taking pictures of these things. At first Jerry had no confidence in himself but then the more tricks that were played on him the stonger he got. And at the end of the book he had made it through all of Gabe Marshall's tricks and it was time to pick president of the 6-th grade. Everyone but Gabes friends voted for Jerry, he had done it. A dork for 6-th grade president. Evertone liked Jerry beacuse they felt bad for him and were surprised that he was not afraid of Gabe any more. This is why this is my favorite book, because a dork can be anybody they want to be, even president of the 6-th grade.

Dork on the Run book review By Christopher

This amazing and unforgettable book called `Dork on the Run' is by the imaginative author Carol Gorman. This book is based on a teenaged boy named Jerry who used to be a dork at his old school but is making a change at his new school. He has some good friends called Brenda, Kat and Kit. Brenda, Kat and Kit decided Jerry should run for class president. When Jerry signed the form to run for class president he found out who his challenger was. It was Gabe Marshall the most popular kid in class. He's determined to make Jerry a dork again but can Jerry use Gabe's pranks to get back at him? This brilliant masterpiece is for kids aged 10 to 14. Carol Gorman's purpose to write the book is to entertain young souls. Gabe Marshall is a very spoilt and rude kid who would do anything to make friendly Jerry look like a total dork again. I think he is a spoilt kid because of his attitude. I think Jerry is a very kind kid who doesn't really seem like a dork. Jerry seems like a very good sport because he had to put up with Gabe Marshall who always plays pranks on him all the time. Carol Gorman is a really imaginative and humorous author because of the brilliant use of description in this book. Carol Gorman makes you visualize what Jerry is feeling and makes you feel like your part of this amazing adventure. I like the characters in this book because they have very interesting personalities and they are all very pleasant except for the horrible Gabe Marshall. I think that this book should be rated 10 out of 10 because of the humour, imaginative ideas and good use of strong words.

Awesome

I love all the Dork books by Carol Gorman and this is a great sequel to Dork In Disguise. It gives us a look at how preteens actually deal with pressure and stress
