Great for those who want to be sensitive to those hurting

This book was just what I was looking for. I rarely know how to respond to those hurting besides just being quiet and listening, but this book was very helpful in giving me other ideas/options about how to respond to those suffering who are so dear to me.
Easy-to-read but hugely insightful and full of practical helps

This book is a big help to caregivers (those who offer care for others in need) and for the rest of us who merely want to express our concern without making things worse. We all have friends, coworkers and family members who suffer losses and hardships now and then, so this book is for everyone. When I read it, my brother was going through an unwanted divorce. Prior to reading the book, I dreaded calling him because I didn't know what to say and I was afraid of being uncomfortable, saying the wrong thing, or having that awkward silence on the phone. But after reading Don't Sing Songs to a Heavy Heart, I started calling him every few days and became his strongest source of support. This book gave me questions to ask, ways to listen and more. Don't be the person who avoids your neighbor or friend during their darkest times--get this book and learn simple things that can help another heal.
