Ha ha ha ha this is the best travel book

Chris Harris' book is the funniest and probaly the most accurate book I have ever read. I have been to Europe numerous times and have shared some of Mr. Haris' encounters as well. I argued with an englishman about their queen and once almost got involved of the running of the bulls. Read this book now.

A travel classic.

This book is great - the DAMN UGLY American tourist meets Europe ("Where's the McDonalds?"). I have read this at least 5 times, and it still makes me laugh. I read it before I went to Europe, and it sure made me see a lot of humor in different (or difficult) situations. (Read the "real life" description of a night on a sleeper train.) The humor is translatable, too. This book was a favorite among a group of 40 or more international students from all over the world stationed in Sweden. The German students especially loved the chapter on the scary re-unified Germany and their nervous neighbors.

I loved it!

I live in Switzerland and found the entire spoof of travelling in Europe hilarious! It's great for expats and is now being passed around the office to all the expats who are rolling in the halls. If you've ever been made to feel like a culturally retarded morally stagnated backward American tourist from hell...then this is your revenge!!! And it's lots of fun...and everything he says about the immaculate Switzerland is true...they even dryclean the cows here!

A must-read for "Let's Go" survivors

Anyone who has lived and died by "Let's Go: Europe" will love this book! As much fun as Europe is, Chris Harris hits all its little idiosyncracies and nuances (including those of the Ugly American Tourist) right on the mark. You'll laugh hard and remember all the fun you had over there. IF you haven't gone to Europe, well, let's just say this book is full of location jokes. You have to be there to really appreciate it.

A must for anyone who plans to travel in Europe

This book is able to mix humor and very useful advice to such an extent that I read it through again each time I return to Europe and sometimes just for fun. Chris Harris is to commended on writing a book that entertains as much as it gives practical information for an American traveling in Europe. The book was given to me as a joke (I'm a French major), but I found that the information in it, especially the chapter on France, was actually quite useful in my travels there. Granted they are taken to the extreme, but that is the humor in it. Except the part about how you'll do more waiting in a French restaurant than you'll do in Hell's post office. That is actually not an exaggeration at all. Read this book, you'll be glad that you did.
