This is an excellent treatise on stress management. It has the classic techniques and warning signs. For instance, great stress manifests itself physically (pain), behaviorally, emotionally, cognitively (ability to think clearly), in human relations and spiritually through a feeling of emptiness or loss of meaning. The author asks that we pinpoint the main stress producers in our lives and develop strategies to deal with them effectively. The author calls upon us to take time out from stress in order "to let the soup sit". The book covers chronic stress producers which are deep-seated, anger or guilt-related. The presentation builds up to 8 keys to success which include "being positive" and "goal setting/measurement". The presentation is uncomplicated. Overall, the book is worth acquiring provided that you will apply its contents with more than a modicum of diligence. If you "need a break from life", this is a good work to apply in order to "recharge" . The author provides practical and time-tested advice. Also acquire this book if you are the type of person fearful of asking for help of any kind. At least you can retreat to a safe place out of sight and get some practical advice on how to handle the greatest stresses in your life.
