"Don't Call Me Ma"..a MUST read for sheer enjoyment.

I absolutely fell in love with this book. For so many reasons. First of all, I could identify with Caroline, the wonderful mother in this story, as I too have a son who insists on calling me "Ma". I am constantly saying to him "Don't call me Ma!" As I read this endearing story I fell in love with all the characters in the book. I think Mrs. Johnson was my favorite. She could out-swear and out-drink any logger in the camp. When I read this book my first thought was that this HAS to be made either into a movie or a weekly TV show. We so need wonderful stories like this one in our lives again. This is one book that I will read again and again. I dearly love it.

A delightful story of a logger and his family in Oregon

Don't Call Me Ma is the story of a Oregon logger who fell in love with a fine Boston lady, named Caroline Snow. She moved with "Big Sam" to the woods of Oregon, quite different from her Boston upbringing. The book teaches us lessons of nature, of love, and of persistence. It is must reading. It is such a joy to find an author such as Mr. Churchill, who is able to communicate the real meaning of life through his words. It is also a great look into the Oregon logging history.
