Perfect 'Dog-Warming' Gift

This book has a nice look and feel: glossy pages, good pictures, and a decent length. It's definitely substantial enough to make a great 'dog-warming' gift for a friend. The content is cute and funny. I have one on my shelf and have given several as gifts. This will continue to be my go-to gift for dog-loving friends.

Very cute!

We love reading this little book in our veterinary office! Haiku is such a concise form and sounds like the way a dog might actually speak.

four legs + seventeen syllables + a lot of wit = DOG-KU

Every dog owner can attest that when they look into their hound's eyes, they can just *tell* what their dog is thinking. But it took a skilled and clever poet named Steve Marsh to translate it all in to poetry. "DOG-KU" absolutely charms with its funny, spot-on haikus. Like the chihuahua in this book who muses "don't dress me in human clothes" or he'll "poop in your purse," these are tiny poems with a BIG bark. A perfect gift any dog lover in your life who might agrees with "ZAC," (one of the four-legged bards Marsh channels) when he writes: "They say that the puns are the lowest form of humor. Wrong. Cats are the lowest form of humor."

A perfect gift or addition to a well-rounded poetry collection

A book of haikus written by dogs (as told by various dogs to poet Steve Marsh, coincidentally). An idea so clever and simple you wonder why no one did it before. The collection is a beautifully bound work filled to the brim with pictures and haikus. The first thing you want to do when you pick up the tome is to flip through the pages and see if your dog's breed is respresented (mine was). Then you start scanning the haikus (divided in sections such as "Cleanliness", "Cats" and "Eating") and find yourself laughing out loud at some of these dogs' audacity. For example: "All day I sniff butts. I come home to celebrate By kissing your face." Another zinger: "You speak so proudly of dog domestication. We adopted YOU!" A perfect gift for dog lovers and a fine collection of haikus for the silly side of your collection or poetry reading.
