MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
Does Grandma Remember Me is a story of a grandma with dementia. It teaches young children how to deal with and understand why their grandma or loved one does not know them most or all of the time. Author Evita Sherman does a fantastic job writing this book so that children can understand. And really, adults can relate to this book as well. I had 2 aunts that had dementia. One of them I was around quite a bit and it is heartbreaking to experience and so hard for children to understand. This is why you need this book.
I so much enjoyed the illustrations by Illustrator Chayla Bolden. With illustrations to fit the story on each page, and colors just right to fit the mood, children will love and enjoy seeing these beautiful pages of characters and their surroundings making the story come to life. This book should be in every household that has a family member that is dealing with dementia. This will help you as parents know how to better understand how to talk to your child. I strongly encourage you to check this beautiful book out and purchase it if this is something your family needs. Another thought is, this would make a very nice gift to a family who is experiencing someone with this disease.
