I loved this book as a child

This was one of my favorite childhood books, so I was delighted to see it being sold again. After I had used the bandages enclosed, I begged my mother to give me more to keep the book like new. Over and over and over. Perfect for the beginning reader.

Very neat book, a trip back in time!

Okay, for all you new moms out there, this is a great book for a trip back in time. Back when boys actually took real guns to school to trade or sell to their friends (hey, they even went on the school bus!) when people wouldn't think of hurting someone else, not the mayhem we have today. They also played as if they were cowboys and played with their sisters as well. Don't look at this book like you would today. Why the reviewers below are so sarcastic about it is beyond me. Today, we have books about a farting dog and no one raises an eyebrow over that title, but you will if someone is playing cowboys with pretend guns. Go figure! Anyway, this is an awesome book. It shows a very caring young man who helps his family after his mother helps him with his finger injury. Dan then in turn, helps each of his other family members when they get a cut or scratch. Even the dog wants one! It's very loved in this house and is quite refreshing to see a simpler time once more. And, the lawnmower shown in the book is the kind that were used before they had motors. There's something interesting to talk about too! Highly recommend!

Fun book - my 3 year old loves it!

This is a fun book, and my 3 year old son has us read this over and over. One note - Dan does initially hurt his finger in a big ol' cowboy ("make-believe") gun fight in the back yard, so if you are avoiding guns with your little one, there is a mild reference to them in this book.

A fun and unique book

This book is very sweet, and has an old fashioned charm that I just love. It basically goes over different scenarios of how children can get hurt, and what to do about it. It revolves around bandaging wounds, real or imagined. (Like on a doll, or the pet dog, etc). What really caught my eye, is that in the front page, there are two Band-aid bandages! I have never seen anything like this in a book! Kid's love this kind of thing. The story covers everything from working, playing, helping out, and comforting, and just having fun. A GREAT little book for children. Would be cute in a doctor's office waiting room, or on any child's personal library.

A tender, sweet story

Just would like to say that this story is wonderful in its portrayal of a boys being boys, a mother who has time, a brother who loves, plays with, and helps his little sister, and a Dad who indulges the eager interest of his young son (even if it costs him 10 minutes on the lawn job). My children love this story and don't think "mom" and "dad" are doing anything unusual--as has been suggested in some reviews. (too old fashioned in its view) The only exception is that Dad is using a funny looking lawn mower which only opens the door for some interesting conversation when the story is over. I highly recommend it!
