Diversity of Pollinators Vis á Vis Insecticide Toxicity in Cucumber

Cucumber is a cross-pollinated crop which means it requires transfer of pollen from male flower to female flower predominantly through insect-pollinators for qualitative as well as quantitative fruit production. The study shows the varieties of pollinators foraging on cucumber flowers either for pollen, nectar or both as well as their foraging dynamics throughout the cropping season. Foraging frequency of different pollinators has also significant role on determining fruit formation and development. Indiscriminate use of insecticides is affecting the population as well as foraging activity of pollinators negatively which one cannot even imagine. Albeit, there are reviews showing few pollinators surviving the attack of insecticides at some extent. The results exhibit probable factors for their continued activity on insecticide applied cucumber field.
